“Each year, we get to help wonderful causes and tonight is all about Family Promise,” added Labrecque, whose salon selects a nonprofit with a mission that resonates with his team each year. “Isn’t it beautiful to know that there is an organization that is helping children have a roof over their heads and meals on their table? No one should go hungry and without a home.”

Family Promise Southeast Florida’s Executive Director, Jennifer Raymond, LMHC-QS, NCC, spoke to the impact of contributions from the evening.

“It takes a village, as they say,” said Raymond. “You’re not only helping one family. You are helping thousands of families that are entering our programs every year and trying to get them the support that they need. Without your support, we could not do what we do.”

Through such assistance, 700 families have entered into Family Promise’s programs and graduated, and more than 200 children have benefited from that graduation in the last two years alone.

One shining example is Ron, a single father, who attended the Night of Giving to share his story.

“Two and half years ago amid COVID, I lost my job,” he recalled “I have two small sons and we were facing eviction. We had three weeks. We had no friends or family in Florida. A friend from Michigan found a phone number and said Ron you’ve got to give Family Promise a call.

“They met me and the kids and immediately promised we would not have to carry this load anymore,” he continued. “I have my own house now. We have our own bedrooms. My kids are healthy. They’re happy. Their grades have improved. I can’t wait to be on the other side of this group so I can be giving money and supporting Family Promise.

“Thank you all for your generosity,” he concluded.
