SUMMARY:Poetry and Jazz at The Center
DESCRIPTION:The Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center is a historically Black\, community-based organization serving ALL marginalized East End children and families. THE CENTER encourages\, educates\, and empowers children and their families. \n\nLots of wonderful things have been happening at The Center. Our long-needed and awaited new building is done. We now need to finish and landscape. We have a workforce training program called Teach Me How to Fish. Our after-school children continue to strive and thrive with our educational and enrichment programming. Our Summer program includes a strong component to prevent the Summer “slide” in learning. Our D.R.E.A.M. Teens meet regularly. Their foundation is based on Dedication\, Responsibility\, Education\, Attitude\, and Motivation. We have weekly SAT classes with extra math help. We are a full-service community center\, offering individual couseling and emergency assistance to families in need. All of this only touches the surface of the many programs and services offered at The Center. \n

SUMMARY:CHAMBER MUSIC WORKSHOP: CELEBRATION CONCERT IV
DESCRIPTION:Young artists of the Chamber Music Workshop cap off the Workshop’s 20th season. Programming to be announced. \n\n\n\n\n\nAs a young violin student at Juilliard\, Toby Perlman imagined an antidote to the competitive and isolating environment that exceptional young artists often grapple with in the pursuit of their craft. \nIn the summer of 1994\, along with her husband Itzhak\, Toby established The Perlman Music Program for aspiring young violinists\, violists\, cellists\, bassists\, and pianists. In 2000\, a visionary group of supporters secured the program’s 28-acre home on Shelter Island overlooking Crescent Beach. This peaceful\, secluded campus is the perfect setting for students to escape the demands of their complicated lives and come together to form a lasting community. \nToby’s dream is based on a deceptively simple idea: meet the needs of each child\, respect and trust students\, and immerse them in a nurturing environment that emphasizes connection over competition. At PMP\, our young musicians learn how to be in the world. They collaborate\, support each other\, and contribute to camp life. Our faculty look beyond the surface of technical proficiency and focus on their students’ potential to be interesting artists. We safeguard talent and individuality\, and encourage kids to explore\, take risks\, and develop at their own pace. \nToday\, PMP provides a vibrant curriculum of programs\, residencies\, concerts\, mentorship\, and educational engagement\, filling more than 300 days of the year. The most promising young musicians from across the world have a platform to thrive\, make music together\, challenge each other\, form life-long bonds\, and transform their potential into a life-changing reality.

DESCRIPTION:Artist-faculty teach an open masterclass featuring young artist participants of the Chamber Music Workshop. \nJoel Krosnick has performed as soloist\, recitalist\, and chamber musician around the world. As a member of the Juilliard String Quartet since 1974\, he has performed the great quartet literature throughout North America\, Europe\, Asia\, and Australia. With his sonata partner of more than 30 years\, pianist Gilbert Kalish\, Mr. Krosnick has performed recitals throughout the U. S. and Europe. Since 1976\, they have given annual series of recitals in New York City and in 2007 presented the series “American Milestones of the Last 100 Years” at The Juilliard School. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nAs a young violin student at Juilliard\, Toby Perlman imagined an antidote to the competitive and isolating environment that exceptional young artists often grapple with in the pursuit of their craft.

SUMMARY:SVOR Out of The Blue Gala
DESCRIPTION:  \nFounded in 2018\, the mission of Southampton Village Ocean Rescue (SVOR) is to respond to emergencies in the ocean and bay\, throughout the Village of Southampton\, 24 hours a day\, 365 days a year.  \n \nSVOR is a volunteer organization\, dedicated to making expeditious and safe water rescues year-round at all unprotected beaches in and around Southampton Village. Every month SVOR trains in different locations\, coordinating with numerous emergency agencies\, to be prepared for any aquatic emergency. SVOR rescuers are ocean lifeguard- and CPR-certified.  \n \nSVOR recognizes that preventative lifeguarding is a key component to saving lives. Members actively promote water safety and education. SVOR initiated the Lifeguard Training program for anyone 16 years or older\, as well as the Junior Lifeguard Training program\, for those ages 11 to 14 and the programs will be expanded in the future. SVOR trains lifeguards year-round\, and provides ocean lifeguard courses for certification during high season. SVOR runs a Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard Certification Program at Suffolk Community College Pool in the off-season. The officers organize community Adult Swim lessons\, overseen by SVOR volunteers\, which run alongside all ocean rescue lifeguard programs. Educational information about rip currents is distributed during Beach Safety Week and at various events throughout the summer. Pre-season water safety programs for caregivers will be offered by SVOR. Notably\, SVOR is responsible for the installation of rip current signs at all Southampton Village ocean beach access points and continuously works toward the ultimate goal of waterproofing Southampton. \n \nIn addition\, members safeguard swimmers in charitable events that involve open water\, as well as other water-related functions in Southampton.

DESCRIPTION:Fighting Chance is America’s oldest and largest free cancer counseling center that operates on a regional basis\, in our case the Eastern End of Long Island\, which is about 600 square miles and largely semi-rural. \nIn person counseling is the “gold standard” when helping a newly-diagnosed cancer patient cope with the negative psychological effects of cancer that include hyper-anxiety\, depression\, insecurity\, and sleeplessness. In-person counseling is better\, by far\, than telephone calls\, email counseling\, chat rooms\, or the use of two-way videos. \n
