OUR MISSION
We are changing the conversation around disabilities by defying definitions, inspiring possibilities and improving the lives of the people we serve, their families and our community.
Charter school for students with intellectual disabilities.
SAIL offers an educational program that blends traditional academics with practical life and vocational skills. The goal for all students at SAIL is to acquire transferable skills that lead to independence and employment when they complete school. SAIL is a charter school for middle and high school students operated under contract with the School District of Palm Beach County.
Who benefits from our school: Seagull Academy for Independent Living, also known as SAIL, offers students ages 11-22 a safe and nurturing learning environment that can be customized to meet students’ needs.
What our school offers: We are committed to providing a comprehensive, individualized education program for each of our students, utilizing a holistic approach to advancement in academics, as well as life, social, and job skills. Each classroom at SAIL employs innovative teaching methods that allow students to learn through hands-on, manipulative activities. Life skills such as money management, grocery shopping and preparation of simple meals is part of the educational experience. The maximum ratio in each classroom is 1-to-7, staff member to students, to allow for the individualized learning environment that makes the difference at Seagull Academy.
